Launching tokens
Let a strategy launch new tokens on Pons or Torch from the Spinner's wallet, written by an AI step on your own key.
A strategy can launch a new token instead of buying one. The launch is the strategy's outcome, like a buy: when the trigger fires and the rules hold, the Spinner's wallet launches a token on Pons or Torch. The Spinner is the token's creator, so the token's creator fees are its own.
Every launch is written by an AI step on your own key. The step writes the token's name, ticker and description, can draw its image, and can decide that nothing is worth launching. On a webhook, your own service can write the launch instead.
Tiers
| Tier | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Rare | Launches, written by AI steps without MCP servers. A step on xAI can use Grok's X search, which is not an MCP server. |
| Epic | Launches whose AI steps read MCP servers. |
| Legendary | Launches started by your own service through a webhook, and written by your service or by AI steps. |
Set up a launch
Choose the outcome
In the workflow editor, open the outcome block. In Outcome, choose Launch a token (Pons or Torch). The editor adds an AI step named idea that writes the token, and a Then launch if rule on its answer. Or start from the preset AI launches a token, once a day.
Choose the trigger
A launch can follow any trigger. A timer is the usual one: for example, once a day the AI proposes a token, or passes.
Write the prompt
Edit the idea step's prompt: the theme, the tone, what to avoid. Keep the answer fields that the launch uses (name, symbol, description), and a yes or no field (launch) that lets the AI pass.
Choose the launchpad and terms
In Launch on, choose Pons or Torch, then set its terms. See the launch fields.
Set the limits
Set Launches a day at most and AI runs an hour at most. Each launch costs its dev buy and gas, and Pons charges a fee for each launch.
The AI step writes the token
The token's name, ticker, description and image must each be exactly one answer by name, for example {{idea.name}}. They can never be fixed text, because each launch is a new token, not the same one again. On a webhook, they can also be webhook fields, for example {{hook.name}}.
| Field | Editor | Rules |
|---|---|---|
name | Token name | Needed. Cut to 32 characters. |
symbol | Ticker | Needed. Spin keeps letters and digits only, in upper case, up to 10. |
description | Description | Optional. Cut to 1,000 characters. |
image | Image | Optional. An image that a step draws, or a link to one. Empty: no image. |
If the name or the ticker comes out empty, or the AI gave no answer for it, nothing is launched. The activity says "launch: the name or ticker came out empty", and the Spinner's page shows "A launch had no name or ticker". Change the prompt so that it asks for both.
Then launch if reads the step's answers, for example ai.idea.launch == true. If it does not hold, nothing is launched.
Draw the image
Turn on Draw its image in the outcome block. The editor adds a step named art:
- It runs only if the
ideastep says to launch. - It draws one square image with your image model. It needs an OpenAI, xAI or Google key.
- Its answer is the image's link, and the launch's Image becomes
{{art.url}}.
The image can also be a link that a step found, for example {{trend.image_url}}, or a link that your webhook sends. A link must start with https:// or ipfs://. See image steps.
The launch fields
Both launchpads take the token's fields above and a dev buy.
| Field | Editor | Values |
|---|---|---|
dev_buy_eth | Dev buy | The Spinner's own first buy, in ETH, from 0 to 10. 0 if you do not set it. |
Dev buy. The Spinner's wallet buys the new token in the launch itself, so nothing can trade before it. The dev buy counts against your live trading limits on the Wallet tab.
A Pons token starts on a bonding curve, and moves to a Uniswap pool once the curve holds 4.2 ETH. Pons charges 0.0005 ETH for each launch.
| Field | Editor | Values |
|---|---|---|
creator_tax_pct | Creator tax | A tax on every trade, paid to the Spinner. From 0 to 10%, 2% if you do not set it. |
buyback | Buyback | Pons buys back and locks the token with part of the fees. Off if you do not set it. |
Example
Once a day, the AI proposes a token or passes. If it says to launch, a second step draws the image, and the Spinner launches the token on Torch with no dev buy. This is an illustration to learn from, not a strategy that is known to make money.

A launching strategy gives launch instead of buy_eth, and has no target.
Limits
- Launches a day at most (
limits.max_launches_per_day): from 1 to 10, 1 if you do not set it. It counts the launches of the last 24 hours, and holds across a restart of Spin's servers. - AI runs an hour at most (
limits.max_ai_runs_per_hour): see AI steps. - Your live trading limits on the Wallet tab apply to the dev buy.
A launch is not a position
The launched token and any dev buy stay in the Spinner's wallet. No exit sells them, so a launching strategy has no exits. The Wallet tab shows them, and you can Withdraw them to your own wallet.
A launch cannot be backtested, because how a token that was never launched would have traded cannot be known. On paper, no token is launched.
You are the creator
The Spinner's wallet launches the token, so the Spinner is its creator. You are responsible for the token's name, ticker, description and image. Spin does not check AI prompts or launches with a moderation step. Your AI provider applies its own policies to what its models write and draw.
Creator fees go to the Spinner's wallet. See Creator fees and links.
