Risks
What can go wrong when a bot trades for you. Read this before you use real money.
A trading bot is a tool. It follows your rules exactly, and it does not stop to think. Read these risks before you switch a bot to live trading.
Only use money you can afford to lose
You can lose all the money in a Spinner's wallet. Nothing on this site is financial, investment or tax advice.
Market risk
Prices go down as well as up. Many strategies lose money after fees and costs. A bot can lose faster than a person, because it acts on every signal its rules allow.
Meme tokens and rugs
Most new tokens lose most of their value, often in minutes.
- A creator can sell their tokens and crash the price.
- Liquidity can disappear, so you cannot sell at a fair price.
- Some token contracts stop holders from selling, or take large taxes.
Rules can check liquidity, taxes and what the creator does. No rule removes this risk.
Slippage and taxes
- A fast market can fill your trade at a worse price than the quote, up to your slippage limit.
- A trade that hits its slippage limit does not happen, so the bot can miss a buy or an exit.
- Torch tokens tax buys. During anti-snipe, the tax can start at 80%, and your slippage limit does not include it. See venues.
- Pools, hooks and launchpads take their own fees.
Smart contract risk
The guard, the venue adapters, the Spinner's wallet, the USDG position and every venue that a bot uses are smart contracts. Any of them can have a bug. A bug can lose funds.
- The guard caps each buy with your limits. Keep your limits as small as your strategy needs.
- The protocol decides which venue adapters the guard lists. A faulty adapter could lose tokens that the wallet holds.
The USDG position
The USDG position puts USDG into lending and liquidity venues. These venues have their own contract risk. A liquidity range also moves with the price of the other token. A stablecoin can lose its peg. Projections of yield are not promises.
AI answers can be wrong
- An AI model can misread a strategy that you describe in words. Read every rule before you save it.
- An AI step can give a wrong answer. A missing or invalid answer is "no signal", but a wrong answer that is in the right format is used.
- An MCP server can return wrong data, or text written to mislead a model.
- Hype on X is easy to fake with bots and paid posts. AI cannot reliably tell.
AI only gives signals. Your rules and your limits still decide each trade.
Keys and third-party services
- Your wallet. Anyone with your wallet's keys controls your Spinners and their wallets. Keep your keys safe.
- Your AI keys. AI steps run on your own API keys. You pay your provider for each call. Set spending limits with your provider.
- MCP servers and webhooks. A service that you connect can fail, change, or send bad data. A webhook secret that leaks lets others start entries for your bot.
- Venues and launchpads. Launchpads, exchanges, data and AI providers can change their rules, fees or availability.
- Outages and delays. A bot can act late or miss an event if the chain, a data source or Spin's servers are slow or down. Your wallet stays yours and usable even then.
Paper results and backtests do not predict live results
Backtests replay a strategy on past trades. Paper trading runs it live with no money. Both are useful tests, but live results will differ:
- Real fills, fees, slippage and timing differ from the simulation.
- Other traders react to your trades.
- The market changes. What worked before can fail next.
A good backtest, a good paper run or a high rank on the leaderboard does not mean that a strategy will make money.
$SPIN
Mint, activation and tier unlocks are fixed amounts of $SPIN. The price of $SPIN can fall as well as rise. The weekly airdrop changes with the fees that $SPIN earns, and it is not guaranteed.
No advice
Spin gives you building blocks and presets. Presets are starting points only. Spin does not tell you what to trade and makes no claim that any strategy or preset will make money. Owning a Spinner gives you access to software tools. It is not a share in Spin.
