AI and data
How a Spinner asks your own AI model, reads live data through MCP servers, and takes calls from your own service.
A strategy can ask an AI model a question before it acts. The model reads the token's values, and live data if you give it tools, and gives an answer in a fixed shape. Your rules then read the answer and decide. The AI only produces values: every buy, sell and launch still goes through your rules, your limits and the Spinner's guard.
What AI can do in a strategy
| Use | What happens | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Check before a buy | AI steps run after the trigger. Then buy if reads their answers. | AI steps |
| Check before a sell | An exit asks the AI about an open position. Then sell if reads the answers. | AI steps |
| Find a token to buy | A step answers with a token's address. The bot buys that token if your rules hold. | AI steps |
| Read live data | A step reads tools from MCP servers that you add, or uses Grok's search of X and the web. | MCP servers |
| Launch a token | A step writes the token's name, ticker and description, and can draw its image. | Launching tokens |
| Start from your own service | Your service sends a signed call to the Spinner's webhook. | Webhooks |
Your own key, your own costs
Every holder brings their own AI key. Spin has no shared key and no AI credit of its own.
- Each AI step runs on your key, so your provider bills you directly.
- MCP servers use your own key for each service, so that service bills you directly.
- Your keys belong to you, not to a Spinner. When you sell a Spinner, its bot stops using your keys at once. The buyer's bot uses the buyer's keys.
- Spin never shares the results of one holder's key with another holder. When the same AI run repeats within 60 seconds, Spin can reuse the answer, but only for the same holder.
- Spin stores your keys sealed (encrypted). You never see a key again after you save it. Spin shows only its last 4 characters.
Paper trading and live trading both run the AI steps, so a paper run also costs calls on your key. You set how many AI runs a strategy can make in an hour: see AI steps.
AI can be wrong
A model can misread data, and data from a server can be late, wrong or missing. Keep amounts small, keep your live trading limits low, and run on paper first. A strategy with an AI step cannot be backtested, because what a model would have answered on past days cannot be known.
Tiers
A Spinner's tier decides which AI tools its bot can use. Each tier keeps everything below it.
| Tier | AI and data tools |
|---|---|
| Rare | AI steps only in a strategy that launches a token. No MCP servers. |
| Epic | AI steps in entries and in exits. MCP servers in any step. |
| Legendary | A webhook trigger: your own service starts the strategy. |
