Activation
Activation switches a Spinner's bot on for 5,000 $SPIN and registers it as an on-chain agent.
A Spinner starts inactive. Its bot cannot trade until the Spinner is active: not on paper, not live, and it cannot run backtests. Activation switches the bot on.
Cost
Activation costs 5,000 $SPIN:
| Part | $SPIN | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| 70% | 3,500 | Burned |
| 30% | 1,500 | The protocol |
You also pay a small amount of ETH for gas.
Activate a Spinner
Open the Spinner
Open My Spinners and choose the Spinner. Or, after a mint, click Activate Spinner #....
Check the Activation card
The Activation card is at the top of the Spinner's page. An inactive Spinner has an Inactive pill.
- Only the wallet that holds the Spinner can activate it. If you are signed in with a different wallet, the card shows which wallet holds it.
- If your wallet has less than 5,000 $SPIN, the card says how much more you need.
Activate
Click Activate for 5,000 SPIN. Your wallet asks you to approve the transactions:
- An approval of the fee in $SPIN, if your wallet has not approved enough already.
- The activation.
- The registration of the bot as an on-chain agent, the first time only.
If your wallet supports it, they go in one batch. If a step fails, the app tells you, and nothing is spent except gas.
Done
The pill changes to Active, and the card says "Its bot can trade."
Next, give the bot a strategy on the Strategy tab. Read Presets or Strategies.
The on-chain agent identity (ERC-8004)
The first time you activate a Spinner, the app also registers its bot as an agent in the ERC-8004 identity registry. ERC-8004 is a standard for on-chain AI agents.
- The identity belongs to the Spinner's own wallet, not to your wallet.
- It moves with the NFT. A new holder does not register it again.
- When the bot is registered, the Activation card says "Its bot is registered as an on-chain agent (ERC-8004), owned by the Spinner's wallet."
- Each week that the bot is ranked on the leaderboard, its result is posted to its agent's reputation. See on-chain reputation.
If an active Spinner has no identity yet, the card says so and shows a Register it button. Click it to register the bot on its own. This costs only gas.
A sale or transfer resets activation
When the Spinner goes to a new wallet, by a sale or a transfer, it becomes inactive again. The new holder pays the 5,000 $SPIN again to activate it.
The wallet and its funds, the strategy and its version history, and the track record stay with the Spinner. The new holder also sets up live trading again. Read Transfers.
Activation and tiers are separate
Activation spends $SPIN once. Hold-to-unlock only counts the $SPIN that stays in your wallet. After you pay for activation, your wallet holds 5,000 $SPIN less, and that can change your tier. Read Rarity and tiers.
